Skyline Sunrooms had the privilege of designing and installing a contemporary patio cover for clients in Carlsbad as part of a backyard redesign. The homeowners replaced their existing yard with turf, pavers, and new landscaping and built a new outdoor kitchen complete with a fully functional vent hood. The patio cover was designed to fit the needs of the homeowners as well as complement the other work being done.
It was determined that an attached cover with a 4K contemporary frame and insulated roof panels would look best. “We wanted an outdoor space that was covered, contemporary, and low maintenance” the homeowner stated. Lighting was added in both the roof panels and along the perimeter of the frame. The homeowners said, “We debated whether or not to include the accent lighting around the perimeter and [are] glad we did. Eliminating this lighting would have saved some money, but we would have regretted not adding to the design. We use the accent lighting a lot. It really sets a nice ambience.” Having multiple types of lighting in the patio cover gives the homeowners options of how bright they want the space depending on what the space is being used for at the time. Especially since they also have wireless dimmer switches.
